C-T is doing so many things wrong it's not even funny. I have friends that work in different levels at Gannett and complain how they treat the blogs as an afterthought. Miva for blogs? Meh.You can get a semi-decent indicator by going here. At the bottom you can compare urls ... enter in BlogAsheville and MountainX to get an idea.-dm
Yeah. MtnX receives over 220,000 page views/users (3 mo. avg.) and the Gannett-supergroup AC-T, with more than a dozen blogs, weighs in under 60,000. BlogAsheville ranks somewhere around 2000 (3 mo. avg.).
Are you sure you're reading that right? I think what it's saying is that the AC-T ranks at 60,000th place in overall traffic on the websites it tracks, and that the Xpress ranks in at the 220,000th place. (Google has a rank of 3, for instance.)But we do OK at the Xpress, I think, considering the size of our staff and the relative lack of resources we have by comparision to the AC-T.
Ah, yes, I stand corrected, Steve. The stats are based on ranking and not hits. Still, AC-T presents more than a dozen blogs, and (at quick glance) displays very few comments per post. MtnX seems to have an audience that responds quite passionately to blog posts.
While I like Mt. X's blogs, I don't like that they are all "staff" blogs. I.e., they are a part of those folks' job (as are the non-community AC-T blogs). I like to read blogs written by folks who are writing just for the hell of it, as opposed to because they have to.
